Our Library is Great!!!

ripley_library_image_2.jpg
This is the Greatest Town Ever!
So many great things come from our people here. There was NARCAN training here and 17 people became Certified Overdose Responders. This was such a wonderful training and these people are now prepared to help those in need. Thank you so much for giving your time and selves to our community!!!

Secondly, Since the Library has been running the World Community Grid and helping with the research for cancer and ebola, we have done a great deal. We reached a diamond status for cancer research. This means since "Puter Dave" set this up in December of 2014, our little library has completed 5 years worth of research for cancer. We also received a bronze rating for the ebola research. My mother always said "dynamite comes in small packages" and that is the case with Ripley. We may be small, but we can do so much!!! Be Proud Ripleyites!!!

Unfortunate News!!!!
First of all, I want all of our supporters to know that they are appreciated much more than they would ever imagine. Unfortunately there are those who do not respect our community, our library, the good deeds we perform or the services we provide. Some person or persons broke into our library the night of March 20th and stole the money that is used to keep this library up and running. As upsetting as this is, there is nothing else to do but recoup our losses through additional fundraising. In the mean time I am asking that everyone please keep their ears tuned to anything they may hear and maybe together we can bring this person or persons to justice.

The Ripley Free Library
Here at the library, we do not just talk the talk on spreading education, we also walk the walk. Several of our computers are set up with the World Community Grid. This reduces the amount of time needed to research critical humanitarian causes. Right now our computers work in the background helping researchers find answers to cancer and ebola. Because we have several computers working at the same time, our little library has provided over three years worth of research in just a couple of months. It is so nice to know we can do so much for so many with minimal effort.
I Really Love This Library!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Hard to believe, but the New Year is here!!
There are some new things going on at the Library too. Stop in and see the changes. We also have some things in store for you. Watch facebook and stop in to find out what's happening.
1. Ada is offering her famous "one-stroke" painting class again. Sign up quick as space is limited. Classes begin Jan. 10 and run each Saturday from 9:30-11:30 am. This is a four week session and it is so much fun.
2. Book club is starting up again Jan. 13 and will be held every two weeks on Tuesdays from 11:00-noon. We will be thoroughly learning books and have heady discussions on them. This book will be The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne. This is going to be good. Be sure to join in.
3. Drum Beat Erie will HOPEFULLY be here on Jan. 17 at 1:00pm. This will be weather dependent.
Stay tuned for more "happening" things. Watch facebook, but mostly stop in and see what is going on. This is a fun place to be and a great place to get in out of the cold.
