Library Closings

That Time of Year

December has arrived and what better way to start this month than a trip to Ripley Library. We will be putting up the Christmas tree later this week so be sure to stop in and take a look.  There are tons of Christmas stories to choose from plus cook books to find that perfect treat for the holidays and craft books if you want to make that special gift!

Thank You!

Whew! The Silent Auction is over and once again, we are amazed at the generosity of everyone who donated items for this event. (That includes businesses as well as individuals). And let us not forget all the wonderful volunteers (15 of you!) who worked the tables, helped set-up, tear down and make phone calls. The Auction was a great success. Many thanks to everyone involved!! (Now Thackeray and I are going to take a long nap!)

SILENT AUCTION COMING SOON!!

The Annual Silent Auction is at the Ripley Free Library on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.  The Bidding will begin at Noon.  The final tables will close at 6 p.m.  There will be toys, games, a painter’s basket, a lamp, pictures, baskets galore, items for the men in your lives, items  to please any woman, gifts certificates,  a Portable DVD player and so much more.  Plus a Chinese auction and bake sale.  Something for Everyone!

Board Meeting Changed

The monthly library board meeting has been changed from tonight to  next Tuesday night, October 29th at 6:30 p.m. due to unforeseen circumstances.  They will return to their normal time ( the fourth Tuesday of every month) beginning next month.  Board Meetings are open to the public

Murder Mystery Dinner Coming Soon!

Ripley Free Library is proud to sponsor our next Murder Mystery Dinner, "Happy Deathday to You" at the Noble Winery on Saturday,
October 12th at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are on sale at $18.50 per person or $35.00 for two.  The price includes a delicious meal along with a night of mystery and intrigue as you try to solve the crime.  Tickets can be purchased at the Ripley Library or Noble Winery.  Call to reserve your seats now at 736-3913.

Volunteer Appreciation Night

Ripley Free Library will celebrate an evening of recognition for all of our wonderful volunteers coming this Friday, Sept. 27th at 6:30 p.m..  We are so grateful to everyone who gives of their time in one form or another, whether it be for help at the circulation desk, re-shelving books, dusting, vacuuming, building maintenance, acting in our Murder Mysteries, baking, setting up tables and so much more.  If you have volunteered at the library in the past year and have not received an invitation, please contact the library at 736-3913.

BOOK SALE!

Ripley Free Library will hold its Annual Book Sale beginning August 3 - 17!  We have adult fiction, nonfiction, childrens' books, cook books, diet books, westerns, fantasy, mystery...you name it, we probably have it.  The doors will open at 9 a.m. Saturday. You won't want to miss it!

The library will be closed
Wednesday - Friday, July 31 - August 2 in preparation for the sale.  If you would like to volunteer to sort through books, stop in at the side door anytime after 9 a.m.

Those Summer Days

The Summer Reading Program is drawing to a close.  Coming this week, Story Teller Nan Hoffman will be here on Thursday, July 25th at 6:30 p.m.   

The program will end on Tuesday, July 30th with a Pizza Party!  Prizes may be purchased with your special points on the last two days of the program, July 29th & 30th.

The library will be closed July 31 - Aug 2, reopening on Aug 3 with our Annual Book Sale.  The book sale will run for two weeks. 

The library will hold their Annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday, August 18th.  Details to follow soon.

Summer Reading Program!


 “Dig Into Reading”at the Ripley Free Library as we learn about Planting, Dinosaurs, the Ancient Egyptians, Trucks and Archaelogy.  We will work on computer games, puzzles, worksheets, a scavenger hunt, lots and lots of reading and so much more!
Program begins Thursday, June 27th at 6 p.m.  There will be an Open House as we celebrate the Libri Foundation's grant for new children's books.

The Yard Sale Cometh!

It's that time of year once again.  Time to clean out your closets, tidy up the attic and look to see what you've been storing in your garage for too long.  The Ripley Free Library will hold its annual yard sale on June 7th & 8th.  Proceeds go to the Summer Reading Program.  We will accept just about anything that's in good condition including furniture, toys, clothes, knick knacks, computers, electronic equipment...you get the idea.  Please drop off your donations during our open hours of operations, and from all of us here, thank you for your generosity.

The Ripley Free Library has been closed due to plumbing problems, but we are now officially open once again!  Many thanks for your patience during this ordeal and many thanks to the volunteers who gave of their time in correcting this problem.

Art Exhibit Is Here!


Ripley Free Library's Annual Art Show has returned. We have paintings, photography and even a handmade guitar, yet we are still looking for more!  If you have any artistic works that you would like to share, drop it off during our open hours of operation or call 736-3913 for more details.  The exhibit runs from March 11 - March 30.  Stop in and check it out!

The Big Read is Back!

This year the Ripley Free Library will present Call of the Wild by Jack London as our Big Read Selection. We will meet every Thursday throughout the month of Febuary to discuss the adventurous tale of Buck, a transplanted dog from San Diego who was kidnapped and sent to the face the hardships of the Klondike. First meeting begins February 7th at 6:30 p.m.  These discussion groups are open to people of all ages.

Hungry Anyone?

There's nothing better than a sandwich and a hot bowl of soup on a cold winter day!  Add in a piece of pie and a choice of coffee, tea or punch and you've got yourself a great meal at the Ripley Free Library on Thursday, January 24th, 11a.m.-1 p.m. or 4-6 p.m.  The cost is only $7.00.  It's a great way to support the library and get a great meal too!
