Items for the Yard Sale

The Library is getting ready for the annual yard sale. We are looking for donations to sell. This is a fund raiser for the Summer Reading Program. If you have some items that are sitting around that you are not using and somebody else could, consider donating them to the library. We are looking for any usable item, however things like exercise equipment, sewing fabric, yarn, children's toys and the like seem to work best. All the proceeds from this go directly to our Summer Reading Program, we have no other funds for this worthy event. Please think of us before you throw it out.

Districting, Elections, Voting OH MY!!!

Ripley Library has decided to move forward with becoming a Library District. To fully explain this to the public, we will be offering informational talks at the Library. They are scheduled for April 14th at 6pm, April 21st at 6pm, April 30th at 11am and May 12 at 6pm. There will also be an informational talk at Meeders Restaurant on Friday May 6th at 5pm. The vote will take place at the same time as the Ripley Central School District vote on Tuesday, May 17th. Our district proposal which includes $85,000 in community-based funding and trustee elections will be separate items on the ballot.

When a Library becomes a district, trustees are elected by school district voters. This is a change in the way our Library Board members are chosen. There will be seven trustee positions available. Those interested in running must live in the school district, be a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter. Trustee candidates will have to collect at least 25 signatures on a nominating petition. The deadline for turning in the petition is April 18, 2016.

If you are interested in running as a Ripley Library trustee, please stop in and pick up an information packet that includes the petition you will use. You can also download this information and read more about the Ripley District Initiative at

For more information, please stop in and be sure to mark your calendars for one of the informational talks. Thank you for your support.

First Speaker of the Year

This is the time of year when our sleepy minds start to stir. Come to the Library on January 21st at 6pm and listen to Kelly Hammond. He will let us know how to get out of our comfort zones. We cannot be productive until we face a certain amount of conflict. We work through the conflict and we have learned and become productive. Come listen to what Kelly has to say. This may be just what you need to move forward. Perhaps this can be your New Year's Resolution "Enter into a productive New Year by stepping out of your comfort zone." See you here on January 21, 2016 at 6pm.
